Wordpress Amazon Associate Filter
UPDATE: This filter is now available via the Wordpress Plugin Directory. The latest version* will always be there: DOWNLOAD NOW.
By request, I’ve created a filter that will automatically add your Amazon Associate ID to all amazon links on your Wordpress blog.
Download v0.2 of Amazon Associate Filter here.
More details and installation instructions after the jump.
Amazon Associates Filter automatically adds your amazon associate id to all Amazon links in your posts and comments.
It does this AT DISPLAY TIME — the original link will not be changed in the database.
This may result in slightly longer render times, but means all existing links will be converted as soon as
the plugin is activated.
To use:
1. Drop the extracted folder (amazon_ass) into your plugins directory
2. Activate the plugin from the plugins tab of the wp-admin menu
3. Enter in your Amazon Associate ID using the “Amazon Associate Config” subtab on the Options menu.
PLEASE NOTE: You MUST update your Amazon Associate ID in order to properly gain Amazon Associate credits.
If you do not have an Amazon Associates ID, you can get one here: http://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/associates/join
If you experience any bugs, please alert me to them in the comments to this post. Thank you.
Thanks to Matt Haughey who graciously shared the regexes he used for www.metafilter.com
UPDATE: I’ve updated the plugin to reflect its compatibility with the latest version of WordPress. Another minor change: the plugin now preserves whatever TLD you’ve posted the link with. This should permit international usage, unless Amazon has different referrer styles for different TLDs.
*I’m not sure there’ll be another version unless someone asks for more features, but there you are.
