Using Iceweasel with addons.mozilla.org (firefox plugins)

Out of the box, I wasn’t able to get plugins to download for Iceweasel. I assumed it was a user-agent problem.*

Not true! Apparently, Iceweasel comes with IPV6 DNS enabled. You probably don’t want this.

Type in “about:config”, search for ‘ipvs’, and make sure that ‘network.dns.disableIPv6’ is set to TRUE. Restart your browser.

*you DO have to change the user agent if you want to install Google Browser Sync (which you do, trust me — it’s fantastic).
type ‘about:config’, search for agent and change ‘general.useragent.extra.firefox’ so that ‘Iceweasel’ is replaced with ‘Firefox’.
Shame on you Google for not including Iceweasel in your agent check.
